Europe Jacques Delors is deeply saddened to inform you of Henrik Enderlein's recent passing. Henrik created and led our sister institute, the Jacques Delors Centre in Berlin, which had been integrated into the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, of which he was President.
The founding President of our three Institutes, Mr. Jacques Delors, our President Etienne Davignon, our Vice-President Pascal Lamy, our entire Board of Directors, our Vice-President and Director General Geneviève Pons and her team, convey their deepest condolences to his family. We mourn the loss of a renowned economist, a committed European who was in favour of Franco-German cooperation, and a colleague with amazing human qualities.
The resolutely European ambition of his intellectual productions and policy proposals made Henrik an emblematic figure in research on the integration of the euro zone and the development of an economic and monetary union. His work is in line with that initiated by Jacques Delors and Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, to whom he was very close.
In addition to the respect that his analyses and proposals have always inspired, he was recently admired for his discreet but tenacious fighting spirit in face of the illness that took his life.
Far more than just an outstanding colleague, an intellectual and a political accomplice, Henrik was a dear friend to all of us. We will miss his ideas, his enthusiasm and his smile. We will remain faithful to his memory by continuing his commitment to a more united Europe and greater Franco-German cooperation.
Our friends at the Jacques Delors Centre in Berlin have published the attached text, with which we fully associate ourselves as a family.
