Environment and International Trade: The New European Posture

Pascal Lamy and Geneviève Pons coauthored this article published in the third edition of the “GREEN” review (Le Grand Continent) about the interface between trade opening policies and environmental protection. The piece examines the theoretical dimensions of the trade and environment nexus, as well as the ongoing reform of the EU’s trade policy strategy. It reviews and analyses concrete and recent applications of trade-related measures and calls for a more proactive EU green diplomacy to prevent further trade frictions.
