
Catherine Ray is the producer and host of the podcast “ À quoi tu sers ? Le podcast des métiers de l’Europe ” and works on documentaries about European affairs.
Previously, she served as a unit head at the European Commission, following more than twenty years of experience in communications and policy advising for European commissioners. Notably, she served as Lead Spokesperson and a member of the cabinet of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini. She had previously held the same positions with European Commissioner for Development Andris Piebalgs and then with European Commissioner for Research Janez Potočnik.
She began her career as a press officer for a political delegation at the European Parliament before joining the European Commission as press officer for European Commissioner for Trade Pascal Lamy.
Outside the European institutions, Catherine Ray has also worked as an advisor to the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Kemal Derviş, as well as a senior consultant at Publicis Consultants in Paris, where she advised companies, NGOs, and international organizations.
She has also hosted a show on La Première, the RTBF radio station, and taught at the College of Europe.
Catherine Ray studied at the Institute of Political Studies (IEP) in Lyon before earning a master’s degree in European studies and a DEA (Master 2) in European Union law from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne University. She then attended the College of Europe, where she studied European political and administrative studies.
