Marius Vaščega is the Head of Virginijus Sinkevičius' cabinet, Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries. Mr Vaščega is specifically responsible for the strategy, management and overall coordination of the Commissioner’s team. In this capacity, he also coordinates the work of the Commission’s Directorates General that report to the Commissioner, namely DG Environment and DG Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

In 2019, Marius was the head of the Transition team for the Commissioner-

designate Sinkevičius. Between 2018-2019, Mr Vaščega was the Deputy Head of Office, and Head of the Political Section, of the European Commission Representation in Lithuania.

From 2014-2018, he was the European Commission Adviser for Europe’s 2020 strategy and economic governance at the European Commission Representation in Lithuania. Between 2004 and 2008, he held several positions in the Council of the EU and the European Parliament in Brussels.
